That's one of the things that really pissed me off... like, I get that there are several chapters of backstory and it would be kind of lame to start out with the kids getting sucked back into Narnia and then wandering around for hours (so like, changing it up so the ruins were right there? that makes sense.) and finally meeting Trumpkin and then having storytime would be kind of lame. But you don't have to change what happens. Just change the order of the narrative. It would have been totally possible. In a sense, they did it, but for whatever reason, they also felt the need to change what happened. It just doesn't make sense.
Also, the whole 'it's an interesting visual concept' thing is moronic bull. Sure, it might be, but why don't you save it for, I don't know, a story that requires it. Like one you write yourself. Leave one that's already perfectly wonderful alone.
