Okay, so I saw Harry Potter Five again tonight, and I have some thoughts to add to the ones I initially wrote back in July.  Don't worry, they're [relatively] briefer and more positive.  But everything I originally wrote I still believe.

1. I found it really amusing that the letter from the Ministry said "Confidential" on the front, but then it talked so that everyone in the room could hear what it said.  Yeah, that's real confidential there.

2. The actors' dialogue often seemed really stilted (especially among the younger actors), like it had been scripted.  Which, yes, it had, but it isn't supposed to sound like it.  That's sort of the point of acting.

3. Sirius and Remus... yeah.  I mean, Gary Oldman and David Thewlis are great actors, and they obviously care a lot about their roles, unlike some people {Yes, I AM looking at you, MICHAEL GAMBON!}, but they're just not my Sirius and Remus, you know?  And it didn't help that a week or so ago I realized who my ideal Remus would be (I've been trying to figure out who I would cast as these two for ages): David Tennant.  I mean, he's a brilliant evil!Barty Crouch Jr., obviously, but he's just a brilliant actor in general, and he would be such a good Lupin!  Because he's young-ish, like Lupin is SUPPOSED to be, but he's got that old-soul quality that Lupin has, and I can totally see him teaching the kids about boggarts, and he'd be absolutely brilliant in the scene with Tonks in Six, and you know he could totally pull off the shouting scene in Seven and not make it seem weird and OOC and like he's completely lost his mind, unlike, frankly, most of the other HP actors (both kid and adult) when they have their shouting scenes.  So yes.  (I still have no idea who I'd cast as Sirius; maybe John Barrowman? [Or maybe I've been watching too much Doctor Who/Torchwood.  Yes, that is a definite possibility]).

4. Why the hell did Sirius go to the train station in his bathrobe?  I found that really funny, actually.

5. Aww, Ron stood up for Harry in the common room!  And then he wanted to make sure Harry was all right!  And then Harry was a bastard to him.  Yay for Harry/Ron BFF-ness!  There is never enough of it!

6. On the above note, it really pissed me off that Hermione was the one who noticed the cuts on Harry's hand.  "I thought you said she was giving you lines," is one of my favorite Harry/Ron moments ever, probably my absolute favorite in Book Five!  And they took it and gave it to Hermione.  Just like they gave her "If you want to kill Harry, you'll have to kill us too!"  HERMIONE IS NOT COOL ENOUGH TO GET RON'S LINES, STEVE AND MICHAEL!  SO STOP GIVING THEM TO HER!  ARGH!

7. The thestrals had really weird tails.  I totally missed that the first time.  Also, I think the animators sort of the missed the difference between skeletal horses and skeleton horses.

8. "Don't you all have studying to do?" = worst Dumbledore moment EVER.  Seriously.  Ah well, at least it won't be so much of a shock to the movie-goers when Dumbledore turns out to be a manipulative bastard in Seven.

9. The only student interrogated was Harry.  There was no Educational Decree that made Umbridge interrogate students.  There were not 119 Educational Decrees, either.  I'm not even sure there were thirty (I don't have my copy of OotP handy to consult).

10. I thought it was really awkward that Harry and Cho didn't touch each other while they were kissing.  I mean, except on the mouth, obviously.  But neither of them even put a hand on the other's cheek.  That was weird to me.

11. When Mr. Weasley gave a toast to Harry and said something like, "Without whom I wouldn't be here," I thought, "You should have offered that toast to Lupin, more like."  And I laughed.  And this guy in front of me turned around and frowned. </ random>

12. The Marauder Scene was even worse the second time!  I didn't think that would be possible, but it was!  Poor, poor Alan Rickman, you are such a brilliant actor playing such a brilliant character and they completely underuse you!  I would never do that to you, Alan.  I would completely let you explore Snape's emotional journey!  And I would let you have a showdown with Sirius because you deserve it and because, unlike Nigel the second year, IT IS IN THE BOOK!  Anyway...

13. Okay, Weasley twins = love (*sniff* Fred! *sniff*), but I still thought their exit was pointless and not as cool as it should have been.  And I would have had less time with them messing with Filch, and instead put in the showdown between Umbridge and McGonagall, because it is awesome and IT IS IN THE BOOK!

14. Draco Malfoy was shamefully underused!  And Tom Felton is one of the best young actors in HP, too!

15.  I AM STILL PISSED THAT THEY EDITED THE PROPHECY!  I WILL NEVER BE OKAY WITH IT!  IT ISN'T EVEN THAT LONG AND IT IS CENTRAL TO THE PLOT OF THE ENTIRE SERIES!  CUT OUT A SCENE WITH FILCH!  CUT OUT STUPID NIGEL!  EDIT DOWN THE SCENE BETWEEN DUMBLEDORE AND VOLDEMORT IF YOU HAVE TO, BUT DON'T EDIT THE FUCKING PROPHECY! *hands Harry Caps Lock o' Rage back*

16. I still think it's weird how the Death Eaters and (I hadn't noticed this the first time) the Order members can turn into smoke and fly around.  Weird weird weird.

17. I can't believe I didn't mention how brilliant Bellatrix was in my first post.  She was though.  She was spectacular!  I can't wait to see her in the next two films! (Won't her death scene in Seven be brilliant? *squee*)

18. I think "Nice one, James!" is going to kill me every time!  *wails* Why did Sirius have to die?!?

19. It was cool how Voldemort actually looked seventy years old.  I really liked that, actually.  I still think Harry saying he felt sorry for Voldemort was lame and not canon, though.

20. DESTROY DUMBLEDORE'S OFFICE, HARRY!  TAKE OUT MICHAEL GAMBON!  YOU CAN DO IT!  YOU SEE WHAT YOU ARE MAKING ME DO BY BEING LAME AND NOT ANGRY?  YOU MAKING ME SPEAK IN CAPS LOCK, JUST LIKE YOU DO IN THE BOOK AND SHOULD DO IN THE MOVIE BECAUSE YOU ARE ANGRY!  ANGRY!  BE ANGRY!HARRY, DAMMIT!

21. I thought it was odd that at the end Ginny was talking to Seamus.  Shouldn't she be talking to Dean since they're going out and everything? *shrugs*  And yeah, the ending was still lame.
