Hello, all! I recently made a Canis Majoris fanmix I wanted to share. It follows the progession of Sirius and Jocelyn's relationship with each other as well as the others from the beginning of Canis Majoris to the summer after Goblet of Fire.

I see this as the theme song for Lily, Jocelyn, and the Marauders for their first six years of Hogwarts and the beginning of the seventh. They’re bursting with life, their whole lives are before them, and anything is possible. Everyone’s POV

James’s feelings after he sees Sirius with Lily. I love this song for James because it has an arrogant undertone (“I’ve had other options … but all I want is you”) I see in his attitude. James’s POV

James and Sirius’s feelings after their initial fight. While not all the lyrics really fit, I love the overall tone of immaturity in this song because Sirius and James are just being stupidly angry at each other. James and Sirius’s POV

Sirius and James fight off the Death Eaters. The lyrics don’t really fit that well, but I chose it for the sound and the chorus: the song just sounds aggressive; the chorus is basically all the doubts they have about what happened (“What if you did?”), but in the end they put them aside because they realize that compared to their relationship it doesn’t really matter. James and Sirius’s POV

Even though things didn’t work out for Hector and Jocelyn, they were attracted to each other at some point. Hector’s attraction to Jocelyn lasted longer than her attraction to him (because she was never in love with him), but eventually he lost interest in her as well. Somehow, though, even though they’re not really happy together, they can’t seem to split up. Hector and Jocelyn’s POV

This song really doesn’t have anything to do with Canis Majoris, but for some reason I always think of Jocelyn, Lily, and the Marauders when I hear it. Plus it’s probably my favorite Vanessa Carlton song.

Aside from being sort-of romance-based, this, I think, pretty much sums up the Marauders’ relationships with each other, Jocelyn, and later with Lily. They’ll do anything for each other.

This is a song that’s just too awesome not to share. When I hear this I think of Sirius and Jocelyn in some sort of parallel universe looking at what’s happened to them and saying to each other, “I know we couldn’t be together, but I still love you.”
